Lady Gaga has emerged from a short hiatus with a stunning new video to accompany her newest collaboration with Diane Warren, "Till It Happens To You". The song is the power ballad we'd expect from Mother Monster, but the video that its now paired with raises the song to new heights in it's depth of message and impact on a massive problem here in the US. 1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted next year. That is a fact that should not only scare every father, son, grandfather and uncle, but invigorate every male to step up and be the protector.
"1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted next year."
The concept of “if you see something, say something” has worked for the NYPD and New York transit authority for many years. If every female had the eyes and ears of at least one companion, that sidekick could help prevent these situations from happening or even have the ability to bear witness of the possibility of an assault happening and act can prevent a great deal of assaults happeneing every year. It’s all of our responsibilities to be that sidekick and encourage others to do the same. If we do this, we can improve this situation.
"If you see something, say something."
The video, which is shot entirely in black and white (which seems to be a current trend that I LOVE) gives us an informative, yet brutal portrayal of the heinous acts that are happening across high schools and college campuses across America. We need to act, and we need to act today.
"We need to act, and we need to act today."
A good majority of those women will be Trans women, and that scares us. This is why we have dedicated a specific Trans Empowerment Fund to produce pro-Trans PSA’s and awareness across the online world. At Pride PAC, we know how difficult it is for our communities to stand out in these daily assaults, and it is our duty to do all we can to give them the help that is so desperately needed.
